SEVERE WEATHER PSA ANNOUNCEMENT. (Monday, Jan 8, 2024). It has been relayed that Florida Division of Emergency Management will activate Florida's Amateur Radio Network Band, Florida Sarnet (SARnetFL.com) beginning at 5:00 A.M. (EST) on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (Co-Sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation (fdot.gov).
As of Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 PM (EST), various Florida County Emergency EOCs have activated their designated Amateur Radio Operators in preparation for Florida’s Statewide EOC impending activation and taking control of the SARnet Amateur Radio Network.
The anticipated emergency activation is due to impending severe weather conditions expected tomorrow to impact Northern Florida (and parts of Southeast Florida). Stay tuned to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) (weather.gov) for official bulletins or tune into your local weather news service.
